Competition open to Georgia writers The O, Georgia! Writers Foundation, Inc., a Georgia nonprofit organization, was founded by Paul Cossman, a Georgia bookstore owner. Its mission is to give emerging Georgia writers exposure to a wide audience and to promote the next generation of Georgia authors. Anyone living in the state of Georgia may enter. The O, Georgia! Writing Competition recognizes new adult writers in a volume entitled O, Georgia! A Collection of Georgias Newest and Most Promising Writers. O, Georgia! was initiated in 1996 to assist emerging Georgia writers in having their works published in an increasingly competitive literary marketplace. We are trying to give these budding authors exposure to a mass audience for the first time, said publisher Paul Cossman. The O, Georgia Too! Writing Competition showcases the works of elementary, middle and high school students from all over Georgia in a separate anthology called O, Georgia Too! An Awesome Collection of Original Writings by Young Georgians. The works in O, Georgia Too! show that students are serious thinkers, and we adults need to pay attention to what they're thinking. We also need to look for ways to encourage them to seek self-expression through the written word, added Cossman. Each book and its authors will be celebrated at huge book-release and autographing galas in October. All entrants are notified of their status on or before May 30. Guidelines and entry forms at www.ogeorgia.org or phone at 770-781-9705. The entry deadline date Feb. 15.
