Panthers pick up three mat wins The Starrs Mill Panthers wrestling team traveled to Woodland last Friday night and came home with three wins, defeating Ringgold (39-26), Calhoun (41-27) and Woodland (48-18) to improve their team record to 17-3 in duals matches. Senior Tyler Freeman (152, 29-9) went 3-0 on the night, as did Patrick Kellerman (160, 18-8). Seniors Michael Cosper (135, 33-4) and Tyler Kourajian (130, 31-7) ran their season records up over the 30-win mark. Tonight is Senior Night for the Starrs Mill wrestlers, as they host Cherokee and Redan. Cherokee will also bring its middle school team and Starrs Mill is sponsoring a Students Night to encourage all students to come out and support their team. Starrs Mill will host Cass, Rockdale, Sandy Creek, Westminster, Henry County, LaGrange, McIntosh and Ringgold this Saturday in the Panther Duals. Wrestling should begin at 9:30 a.m. The McIntosh Chiefs traveled to Brookwood last weekend for the North Metro tournament and placed 12th overall. Individually, Andy Ellinas (152) was fourth and Thomas Beck (189) was third. It was a good tournament and we wrestled well, said McIntosh head coach Nick Bellantoni. The Landmark War Eagles finished 10th in a tournament at Bowdon last weekend, beating Central of Carrollton, Adairville, Callaway, Heard Co., Brookstone, St. Francis, Whitefield, Our Lady of Mercy and Temple.
