‘Passion of Christ’ interest group forming

Those who would like to join a team of members of Fayetteville First Baptist Church interested in discussing and viewing Mel Gibson’s upcoming movie, “The Passion of Christ,” are invited to attend the group’s first meeting Sunday, Jan. 25, at 5 p.m. in Room A201 at the church. Confirmation class begins at FFUMC

The confirmation class for spring 2004 will begin Sunday, Jan. 25, at 9:50 a.m., at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. The class is open to sixth graders and other youth who have not taken the class. For more information, contact Julie Harp, 770-461-4313, ext. 13.

Inman Prime Timers to meet

The Prime Timers group at Inman United Methodist Church in south Fayette County will meet Thursday, Jan. 27, at 11:30 a.m. For information on the group or the meeting, call the church office, 770-461-2123.

Walk through the New Testament

The public is invited to attend “Walk thru the New Testament,” an interactive Bible Adventure Seminar suitable for the whole family. Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will host the event Saturday, Jan. 31, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding by 3:30 p.m. Participants will experience stories about people, places and events of the New Testament and be given aids to remember them. Children in third grade and older may attend with a parent. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for students 3rd grade through 12th and includes a book and a light lunch. Holy Trinity to host single parenting series

Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Hwy. 54 in Peachtree City will host a six-week series entitled “Single Parenting That Works: Raising Well-Balanced Children in an Off-Balance World.” Sessions will be held Mondays from 7-8:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 26. Rainbow groups start at Holy Trinity next month

Rainbows is an international, non-profit organization which fosters emotional healing among children who have experienced significant loss or changes in their lives (such as death or divorce). Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City will offer faith-based Rainbows support groups for children in kindergarten through fifth grade beginning in early February. Common Ground Bible study offered

Common Ground is a bible study group for singles and married couples in their twenties and thirties, which focuses on spiritual growth through Bible study, fellowship, and involvement in local mission causes. The current topic of study is the book of Mark. The group meets every Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the Peachtree City First Presbyterian Church, 206 Willowbend Drive. Childcare is provided at the church. Newnan FUMC to sponsor Run for Angels

The Newnan First United Methodist Church will sponsor a one-mile Fun Run and Chicken-Q Saturday, Feb. 21, at the church, 33 Greenville St. in Newnan. All proceeds benefit The Angel’s House, an emergency shelter for children in Coweta County. The fun run will begin at 8:15 a.m., followed by 5K and 10K road races at 8:30. The Chicken-Q will begin at 11 a.m. Race entry fees are $18 for adults and $15 for children, if entered before Feb. 15. Chicken-Q tickets are $8 per plate. Greeks plan St. Basil’s Day celebration

The Greek Orthodox Mission of Peachtree City will have its first Vasilopita (St. Basil’s Day) covered dish dinner Friday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m., at the Gathering Place in Peachtree City. Moms For Moms meets Tuesdays

Moms For Moms., a women’s mentoring and Bible study group, meets Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Willowbend Road in Peachtree City. Bible study began Tuesday, Jan. 20, but new members are welcome any time. Coffee, juice and light refreshments are served at each meeting. Free childcare is provided.
