Body of Christ plans Watchnight service Dec. 31

The Body of Christ Church International, U.S.A., will have a Watchnight New Year’s Eve service Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 9 p.m. Holy communion will be observed. The church is at 3650 Flat Shoals Rd., College Park. For more information, call 770-472-4800.

Inman, North Fayette UMC get new pastors

The Rev. Doug Burrell, formerly pastor at Inman United Methodist Church, will assume duties as pastor of North Fayette United Methodist Church, effective Jan. 1. The appointment was made by the bishop of the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Replacing Burrell at Inman as an interim pastor, will be the Rev. Bob Kerr. In addition, Jolynn Stevens, formerly with North Fayette, will assume duties as full-time music director at Inman. Stevens has served as interim music director at Inman for the past eight months. A covered dish luncheon welcoming Kerr and Stevens will be held at Inman on Sunday, Jan. 11, at noon.

Confirmation class begins at FFUMC

The confirmation class for spring 2004 will begin with an orientation class on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 9:50 a.m., at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. The class is open to sixth graders and other youth who have not taken the class. The group will meet in the youth room. The annual spiritual retreat for the confirmands is Friday through Sunday, Feb. 20-22. For more information, contact Julie Harp, 770-461-4313, ext. 13.

PTC UMC to offer divorce care series

Those who are recently divorced, contemplating divorce, or separated are invited to attend a 14-week Biblically based course of study on divorce care recovery. The first class will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Road. The series involves viewing a video while taking notes in a workbook followed by group discussion. The group will meet in room 300 from 7-9 p.m. There is no charge for the 14-week study and free child care is provided. You do not have to be a member of the church to attend. Baptist men’s breakfast is Jan. 4

Notre Dame Chorale, Our Lady H.S. offer program

The Notre Dame Club of Atlanta and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School Chorus present An Evening of Music Christmas Carols, a cappella motets and selections from Handel’s Messiah Thursday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., at Our Lady of Mercy Fine Arts Auditorium, 861 Ga. Hwy. 279 in Fairburn. The high school choral director is Sally Coleman and the Notre Dame Chorale director is Alexander Blachly. Admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 admitted free.
