Prayer now football foul? Open letter to Dr. Ralph Swearingen, president, Georgia High School Association: Thanks to you, it is a sad day in Georgia high school sports. I am sickened by your edict to Landmark Christian High School to refrain from a pre-game prayer. Your decision was gutless and ridiculously politically correct. Dr. Swearingen, we need real leaders at this grave time in our country who have courage and are guided by moral principles, not political perversions. I have also enclosed a copy of the First Amendment since you and your legal team have no idea what it says or means. I dont remember Congress making a law establishing Christianity as the official religion of America and that prayer had to be given at each high school football game. Thats all the founding father wanted to avoid. They obviously wanted, however, to promote the free exercise of religion which is what was traditionally done by high schools on Friday night all over this country long before you were born. Do us all a favor and resign. It is only a shrill minority of godless liberals with a handful of like-minded judges and weak people in authority, such as yourself, that has brought about this hostile environment toward God. I look forward to the day when decent, moral, God-fearing people are valued and when acknowledgment of a higher authority returns to the public square and Friday night high school football.
