County commission responsible for deal

The Fayette Board of Commissioners are the ones who allowed Solicitor Steve Harris the personal use of the county car and they too should be held accountable.

By giving in to his sorry excuses during one of the board meetings last summer, they became equally responsible in this fiasco.

I agree with Mr. Myers that all these Republicans we have around here claim to support the party line only to deceive us all once they get comfortable in office.

When opportunities arise to lower our tax burden they ignore them by selling us out to big government waste.

It is a shame that on our board of commissioners sits Mr. Greg Dunn and Mr. Peter Pfeifer, both of whom have strong Republican backgrounds and involvement in promoting the GOP in Fayette County, and yet they betray us by allowing us to be portrayed as a party of hypocrites.

But in defense of my party, I would like to say that, if I recall it right from my days in Palmetto, Steve Harris was actually a Democrat in South Fulton County who had graduated from an unaccredited law school and who worked as a district attorney in Fairburn.

He seems to have come to Fayette County on the wave of “white flight” and quickly flipped parties to get our conservative votes. This is probably why he is not a real Republican and why he chose to accept that car in the first place.
