Tree recycling starts today

This year Coweta County residents can recycle their Christmas trees by bringing them to any compactor site or by bringing them to the Old Fairgrounds site on Temple Avenue in Newnan during the annual “Bring One for the Chipper” day.

Trees can be taken to any of the County’s compactor locations Dec. 26-Jan. 3. ”Bring One for the Chipper” Day will be Jan. 3 and on that day you can bring your tree to the Old Fairgrounds site on Temple Avenue in Newnan and receive a free tree seedling while supplies last. All decorations must be removed from the trees before they can be accepted. Last year 625 trees were recycled in Coweta County. About 289,000 trees statewide were recycled in 2002. For more information contact Environmental Management at 770-254-3785.
