Offshoot class starts Jan. 15 Offshoot Productions, which offers several acting classes through the Peachtree City Recreation Department, continues this winter its longtime tradition of acting classes for homeschoolers. Participants ages 9 to 16 may take advantage of Creating Comic Characters on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Jan. 15-Feb. 26. The focus of the class, which is always a great deal of fun, is on characters from scripted plays as well as those created through improvisation. The instructor is Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., Producing Artistic Director of Offshoot. Steadman, who holds a masters in educational theatre from New York University and a doctorate in theatre from Louisiana State University, has taught and directed for three decades in venues ranging from university theatre and private schools to professional, community, and alternative theatres. A produced playwright and Dramatists Guild member, she has also authored publications on acting, dramatic literature and theatre criticism. She has directed over 50 productions, ranging from childrens participation plays to Shakespeare. Registration for Creating Comic Characters, which costs $48, is through the Peachtree City Recreation Department, 770-631-2542.
