Christmas is at its heart a celebration, and nothing says celebration more than singing and dancing. As the holiday approaches, people can experience the joy of the season by viewing special Christmas-themed events.

Classical Dance Theatre and the Southeastern Ballet Company will team up for thir annual holiday concert this Saturday and Sunday at Creekside High School in Fairburn. The show features popular pieces from “The Nutcracker” along with original choreography from Classical Dance theatre studio founder Yasmine Hassaan. There will also be a modern number choreographed by Candice Giyan. Performers in the concert will include members of the Classical Dance theatre program and the Southeastern Ballet Company, as well as guest artists from Atlanta Ballet and modern dance companies.

Showtimes are at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 and a 10 percent discount is available for groups of 10 or more. Creekside High School is located at 7405 Herndon Road in Fairburn. Phone 770-460-8138 or visit www.classicaldancetheatre.com for more information.

Sunday will be a day for singing. Approximately 20 church choirs will gather at the water fountain by the Gazebo in Downtown Fayetteville this Sunday for Christmas caroling and hymns of praise. The community is invited to share in the fellowship and joy of these performances as local choirs sing praises to and celebrate the birth of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ. Each choir will peform two or three of their favorite Christmas carols or hymns over a block of 10 minutes that they will be alloted. Choirs are still being assembled and if your church would like to participate, please contact Lou Ann Ballington at 770-719-3935 or email her at ohmystars@peoplepc.com.

A few things to remember, choirs with greater than 50 members will be difficult to accomodate. Choirs should be accompanied by pre-recorded music only, no live music.
