It was no surprise, given their teams’ respective finishes during the season, but Starr’s Mill and Fayette County placed a total of eight players on the GACA Coaches Choice All-State team for Class AAAAA.

Starr’s Mill, after finishing second in the state tournament, saw six players garner All-State honors, while Fayette County, who made it back to the state’s final eight after winning the 2002 state title, had two.

Jennilee Huddleston and Brittany Matthews represent the Lady Panthers as first-team honorees, along with Ashley Holcomb of the Lady Tigers. They are joined by Lisa Norris of Brookwood, Allison Cantrell of Eagle’s Landing, Madi Gore and Christie Hamilton of Kell, Brook Davis and Lauren Rowe of Lowndes, Melissa Wood of Parkview, Myesha Finney of South Gwinnett, Laura Jones of Sprayberry, Karen Martin of Walton, and Danielle Morton and Brittany Niehaus of Woodstock.

Stefanie Norman of Fayette County is a second-team selection, along with Rebecca Aszman and Lynsey Tedford of Starr’s Mill. Rebecca Guertin and Lindsay Walker represent the Lady Panthers as honorable mention selections.

On the GACA Senior All-Star teams for 2004, Starr’s Mill head coach Mark Williamson has been named assistant coach for the South squad, whose head coach is Ken Paulk of Brookstone. Huddleson, Matthews and Norman are all on that team as well.
