If Iraq is linked to terrorists, where’s your proof?

First of all, if you intend to edit my letter until it is unrecognizable as my own, like the last one, don’t bother printing it.

I want to compliment Mr. Jansen on at least one of the thoughts in his letter: “Because a lot of our citizens are vastly uninformed or choose to be ignorant about what we are really fighting against.”

Bravo, Mr. Jansen. Unfortunately your prescient statement applies to yourself.

Mr. Jansen states: “The ties to Iraq and Osama Bin Laden are well known to those that read something else besides the Atlanta paper, the New York Times ....”

Perhaps Mr. Jansen should make these ties known to the Bush administration which admitted outright that they have found no such ties, and have no reason to believe those ties ever existed.

In my heavily edited letter of several weeks past, I pointed out the lack of this nexus the Bush administration was trying to make while pushing for war a year ago.

Instead of saying outright that Saddam and al Qaeda were directly linked, Bush and his cronies were content to hover around the fringes with innuendo about what might happen. Apparently Mr. Jansen sucked it all up and won’t let go.

If you’ve got the evidence, let’s hear it. Otherwise you’re just another Republican puppet, spouting the lines they want you to say.

Space is at a premium, and while we would love to publish in full every writer’s precious prose, we must at times cut somebody somewhere.
