Should we change name to Peace-mas? After reading Mrs. Williams letter about the so-called Peace Tree at The Avenue, I felt compelled to reply. Yes, Mrs. Williams, it must be a daunting task to prepare these celebrations, especially since they must be careful not to alienate anyone. What a bunch of hogwash! Should we change the holiday to peacemas? No, of course not, but when we take the Christ out of the Christmas celebration, isnt that in essence what we are doing? Notice the emphasis on Christ. Fundamentally, Christmas is about the celebration of Jesus Christs birth. Another question that was asked was, Christmas is a religious holiday but why cant everyone participate and be made to feel accepted? Did I miss the memo that said, Non-Christians cannot enjoy the holiday season? I didnt think so. Ryan Gunnin Fayetteville, Ga.
