Christmas tree farms now open

Now that the turkey has been put away, in more ways than one, many people are purchasing and putting up their Christmas trees. There are a number of Christmas tree farms in the area where people can pick out the perfect tree for the holidays.

The Georgia Forestry Commission has a list of farms, located at www.gfc.state.ga.us/Publications/RuralForestry/ChristmasTreeVendors.pdf. The farms in Fayette are as follows: Christmas Forest, 822 Glynn St. S, Fayetteville, 770-461-8850, 10 a.m.-dark each day, Virginia Pines, Leyland Cypress and Red Cedar.

Minters Tree Farm, 283 Hills Bridge Rd., Fayetteville, 770-461-2840. They will be open from 9 a.m.-dark and will offer Virginia Pines, Leyland Cypress and Red Cedar.

Wee Three Tree Farm, Arnold Rd., Fayetteville, 770-487-6397, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day, Virginia Pines, Leyland Cypress, Frasier Fir and White Pine.

Tree Farms in Coweta County are: Green Acres Trees, 34 George Coggin Rd., Newnan, 770-251-1783, 1-5:30 p.m., Monday-Frday and 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Virginia Pines, Leyland Cypress and Red Cedar.

Lindquist Tree Farm, 105 Leylor Lane, Senoia, 770-599-6490, noon to dark, Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-dark on Saturday and Sunday, Virginia Pines, Leyland Cypress and Red Cedar.

Tree Farms in Fairburn: Ed’s Christmas Trees, 7995 Spence Rd., Fairburn, 770-969-2142, Leyland Cypress.

Frosty Hollow, 7125 Bishop Rd., Fairburn, 770-964-9359, 10 a.m.-dark, Virginia Pines and Leyland Cypress.

One needn’t go to a tree farm to purchase a Christmas tree though, trees are also available at nurseries, lots and places like Lowe’s and Home Depot.
