The inaugural season for the Villages Amphitheater was a success. It should be no surprise that organizers are trying to make the 2004 season even bigger and better.

The 2004 lineup, which was announced at the Fayetteville Tree Lighting last Saturday night, boasts an award-winning lineup of some of the best classic rock and country acts of all time.

Although the final concert name was withheld, the remainder of the lineup consists of Three Dog Night (May 22), the Oak Ridge Boys (June 19), Neil Sedaka (July 24), Ronnie Milsap (Aug. 7), The Swingin’ Medallions (Aug. 21) and a special guest, to be announced (Sept. 18).

Three Dog Night was one of the most successful rock acts in the 1970s. they had a string of 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including seven number one songs. Some of their most beloved numbers include “Joy To The World,” “One,” and “Old fashioned Love Song.” The Oak Ridge Boys have been a country mainstay for decades. They have recorded 10 gold albums, three platinum albums and one double platinum album. Their biggest hit is “Elvira,” but other classics include “Bobbie Sue,” “American Made,” and “Gonna Take a Lot of River.” Neil Sedaka not only recorded such hits as “Breaking Up is Hard to Do,” and “Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen,” but he also wrote hits like “Love Will Keep Us Together,” and “Where The Boys Are.”

Ronnie Milsap is a six-time Grammy Award winner who has also brought home dozens of Country Music Awards. He has had a long and illustrious career with songs like “I Wouldn’t Have Missed It For The World,” “Pure Love,” and “There’s No Getting Over Me.” The Swingin’ Medallions are one of the Southern Crescent’s favorite party bands and ticket holders can expect another great party when they blast a mix of their original songs, including “Double Shot of My Baby’s Love,” with a number of classic covers.

As for the special guest, yet to be announced, Nancy Price, Fayetteville’s Main Street manager, remarked that the final concert would be announced shortly, and that the artist was one that was very well known, currently on the charts, and award winning.

Series ticket holders for 2003 will be given the first opportunity to renew their tickets. Those renewal letters will be going out later this month, according to Price. The price for series ticket will be the same as last year-$150 for six concerts. The public will have the opportunity to purchase series tickets in late January, with individual tickets offered for sale sometime after the first of the year. The price for individual concert tickets will range from $30-$40 each for advanced sales.

The Villages Amphitheater is an 1,800-seat state-of the art venue operated by Fayetteville Main Street Tourism Assoc. It has a 55-foot stage and offers tiered seating as well as orchestra and tiered tables, and lawn seating.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, with the Gold Sponsorship level including either an orchestra or tiered table for eight. Additional tables were added this year to enable more Gold Sponsors to participate.
