Taize music featured at Nativity The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville, will present a service of the Holy Eucharist featuring music from Taizé, on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m. at the church. The program is free and a nursery will be provided. The Taizé Community in France attracts thousands of young people from all over the world, who come to see ways to make the world a better place, said The Rev. Bob Hudak, rector of Nativity, who visited Taizé in June 2003. The community is made up of both Catholic and Protestant brothers from more than 25 nations, aided by two communities of sisters. They are all dedicated to encouraging others to build relationships of trust among human beings. The songs of Taizé are published in a number of different languages and lend themselves to a variety of accompaniment. They are short, repeated again and again, giving them a meditative character. Repeating just a few words many times allows the mind to embrace the truth of those words, Hudak continued. The simplicity of Taizés music allows everyone to take part in a time of prayer together and to remain together in attentive waiting on God. Most people, even those not accustomed to meditation or contemplation, experience this kind of music as deeply calming and comforting. The Episcopal Church of the
