Greta, a gentle, furry senior, needs help

I work as a veterinary nurse at The Animal Medical Clinic in Peachtree City. We have an extraordinary group of clients, who go to great lengths to provide the best care for their furry family members. Our community is filled with compassionate animal lovers, and I hope this letter tugs at the heartstrings of a special person, who can offer love and generosity to a gentle soul in need.

For three months now, our clinic has been caring for a 9-year-old Schnauzer named Greta. Greta’s owner, a 96-year-old woman, fell and broke her hip in the summer and was unable to care for Greta while in the hospital.

Every day this fragile little lady dreamed of being reunited with her beloved dog, but unfortunately, she was permanently placed in a nursing home, leaving Greta homeless. Greta was turned over to our clinic, rather than being euthanized, so that we could find her a loving and appropriate home. We have tried desperately to place her, but have yet to find the perfect home.

Greta is a diabetic and requires insulin twice daily, an inexpensive task which can be easily learned to perform. She has cataracts secondary to the the diabetes, but gets around very well, and is currently learning directions.

Greta loves attention, and gets along great with other dogs and cats. Although an older dog with minor health problems, she has immeasurable spunk, and a desire to be someone’s forever soul mate. She especially loves cuddles and scratches above the base of her tail.

During this time of giving and good will towards men, let us not forget our furry companions who need help finding a happy home, where they can live their lives in comfort and without worry. There are very few feelings in the world greater than the feeling of promise associated with providing a new and affectionate home to a deserving animal. And few dogs are more deserving than Greta!

If you are interested in adopting Greta this holiday season, please contact The Animal Medical Clinic at 770-487-1338.
