Tourism board: Will they help fix traffic problem?

I have lived in Peachtree City for 30 years and have heard some hare-brained ideas floated in that time. The dog park comes to mind as a recent example.

A few years ago a covered walkway from the front door of the library to the front door of City Hall was proposed to keep the rain off of those thousands that travel that 100 or so feet each day. That one never got past the five-year plan, thank your lucky stars.

Now we are to have a department of tourism. I really am at a loss to guess what events they would be pushing. We have a nice homey 4th of July parade, but Macy’s Parade it ain’t.

Let’s assume for a minute that I am wrong and they manage to bring throngs to our city. Given the traffic problems we now have, will they actually get to their destination on time?

We have some serious problems, the traffic being possibly the worst or at least the most expensive to fix. It would be nice if our elected representatives worked their magic on that one and left the dogs and the tourists to their own devices.

One other thing. I must have been asleep at the time. Can anyone tell me how we got into the tennis business in the first place? Was it anything like the way we are getting into the tourism business? Maybe we need a Department of Slippery Slopes.
