‘Shop Peachtree City Month’ underway

At the Nov. 20 meeting of the Peachtree City Council, Mayor Steve Brown proclaimed Nov. 25-Dec. 24 as “Shop Peachtree City Month,” stating that Peachtree City is “The Place” to shop for the coming holiday season.

“Peachtree City’s variety of merchants offer the full spectrum of goods and services for everyone on your Christmas list,” said Brown. “With the abundant fashion, gift and décor shops in town, our residents have very little reason to drive to the major malls around Atlanta.”

He also noted that, because shopping and eating go hand in hand, Peachtree City’s great restaurants keep shoppers well-fed for high energy shopping.

“With the holiday decorations and the special events planned at various centers throughout late November and December, we hope Shop Peachtree City Month will help our residents avoid the holiday traffic and reduce the usual stress of the holidays,” said Brown. “It’s also a huge bonus that Peachtree City has one of the lowest sales tax rates in the entire Metro Atlanta area, which helps you to get the most for your shopping dollar.”

The “Shop Peachtree City” philosophy Brown is encouraging goes further than local convenience. Brown reminds residents that shopping locally keeps tax dollars in the community, and keeps the local economy healthy by maintaining local jobs and the tax dollars they contribute to operating the city.

Holiday events in Peachtree City include the Fire Department’s annual Santa Run, bringing Santa to Peachtree City’s neighborhoods during the weekends in December. Local retail centers also have special events planned over the holiday season. Many local neighborhoods also put on a great holiday light show for residents to enjoy.

“Watch the local papers and make the most of the holidays in Peachtree City with your families,” said Brown.
