Study still needed for new restaurant site

Approval of the new site for a Locos Deli and Pub restaurant has been tabled by the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission.

The developer still has to provide a hydrology study before the commission can vote on it.

The new site is on the east side of Ga. Highway 314 near New Hope Road, across the highway from its previous site which drew the ire of residents in adjacent and nearby subdivisions. Residents complained that the restaurant would cause public safety issues since alcohol would be served there.

Opponents of the original location even visited other Locos in the area to gain ammunition for their viewpoint, showing photos of other Locos’ parking lots that were littered with trash from the establishment.

The developer eventually decided to withdraw the application for that site, which was on the west side of Ga. Highway 314 next to the Bank of America.

The new site is currently a wooded vacant lot adjacent to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, which is zoned Office-Institutional.

Plans for the site include eight feet wide sidewalks on all street frontages and 77 parking spaces including four handicap-accessible spaces.
