Norman signs with South Carolina By MICHAEL
BOYLAN Stefanie Norman, a senior at Fayette County High School and a member of the varsity softball team, signed a national letter of intent to continue her career at the University of South Carolina next year. Norman, a four year letter winner, was a member of the 2002 state championship squad and helped bring the Lady Tigers back to the state finals this year. Norman has been a middle infield starter for the past three years and has put up some impressive numbers both in the field and at the plate. She has a career .980 fielding percentage on 350 chances with only nine errors. She was Defensive Player of the Year in 2001. Her career batting average is .365 and she drove in 30 runs and had four home runs this past season. She is a two-time all state and all county player and this years results have yet to be published. In addition to her time on
the Lady tiger squad, Norman also plays for the Atlanta Viper Fastpitch
organization and will play on their gold team next year before heading
off to college. The team has finished in the top 25 in the ASA Nationals
the past two years.
