This is what you play the regular season for - the playoffs and a chance for a state championship.

Both Sandy Creek High School and Landmark Christian School took care of business during the regular season, earning region titles and a number one seed in their respective playoff brackets. Their winning ways also gave them home field advantage, at least for this weekend. The playoffs start on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Sandy Creek (10-0), which went undefeated in Region 4-AAAA, will host Bainbridge (5-5) the fourth seed out of Region 1-AAAA. Sandy Creek was a monster on both sides of the ball this season.

The offense averaged over 35 points per game, only being held below 34 points once (Douglas County, 24-21). Their defense was also outstanding this year, allowing an average of 10.6 points per game.

The Patriots have key weapons on both offense and defense and have been expertly coached this year, maintaining their intensity and limiting mistakes.

Bainbridge lost in the final week of the season to Cairo and also had losses to Thomas County Central, Clinch County, Colquitt County and Ware County. Bainbridge averaged just over 20 points per game on offense but allowed 22.5 points per game on defense. The winner of the Sandy Creek/Bainbridge game will face the winner of the Troup/Butler game.

Landmark Christian (9-1) will host Social Circle (5-5), the fourth seed from Region 8-A. The War Eagles have not lost since Sept. 5, when they fell to Decatur 28-3. During the course of the season, Landmark’s defense had three shutouts and allowed an average of nine points a game. Their offense averaged 37.6 points per game.

Social Circle had losses to Commerce, Athens Academy, Jefferson, Monticello and Monroe Area. They averaged just over 24 points per game on offense and allowed 22 points per game on defense.
