BodyWorks for Women Lets Ladies Get in Shape Together

Calling all women! There is a new place in town just for you. A place where you can meet other women, support each other, and learn to feel better about yourself. All by working out and getting fit.

Introducing BodyWorks for Women, a women’s only health club featuring a full aerobics schedule, specialty classes and monthly seminars on women’s issues.

BodyWorks for Women is the brainchild of owner Katie Stella. The idea for an all women’s workout facility came about after the birth of her first child in 2002.

“I enjoyed my pregnancy immensely, but I gained over 60 pounds,” Stella says. “After I had lost the weight, I realized how much women flourish in a women’s only atmosphere.”

Stella studied exercise science in school, and decided to put her major to use. She believes her business is special because it teaches women how to make time for themselves.

“Women spend so much time taking care of others, they rarely take time to take care of themselves,” Stella says. “We teach women how to create healthy lifestyles for themselves inside and out. Whether they have 30 minutes or two hours, we can help them to reach their goals.”

And clients are already reaching those goals at BodyWorks. According to Stella, several members have lost more than 20 inches and 30 pounds, and the facility has open less than a month.

“We have clients of every shape and size as well as age,” Stella says. “Our ladies reap the benefits of working out when they can measure the changes every other week.” Among some of the BodyWorks for Women amenities are aerobics classes including yoga, pilates and kickboxing, specialty classes including ballroom dancing and Sensational Salsa, and other features such as tanning, massage, personal training and childcare.

BodyWorks for Women is located next door to TUCS Cheer Lab, a cheerleading instruction studio that Stella, her husband and one other partner own.

“Our philosophy and reputation at TUCS is what we wanted to carry over to BodyWorks,” Stella says. “We believe anyone can go to a gym and work out, but it takes training, time and the proper tools and programs to achieve higher goals.”

By opening the workout facility next to TUCS, Stella hopes to provide a great service to her current clients. “Now moms can work out at the same time their children are receiving cheerleading instruction, and we can provide childcare for those who don’t cheer,” she says.

During the month of November, BodyWork for Women is holding a special of 50 percent off enrollment when you bring in a canned good for the canned food drive. Additionally, the member who attends the most aerobics classes will receive a free turkey from Honey Baked Ham.

Stella adds that there are always new specials happening every month, as well as community events, such as the Toys for Tots drive happening next month.

Other November events include ballroom dancing, Purse Parties, Fall Fitness Festival and a sneak preview of the grand opening extravaganza.
