Two groups to host event to help animals By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The Georgia Heartland Humane Society and the Fayette Humane Society will host events Saturday to help the animals. The Doggie Dash, hosted by the Georgia Heartland Humane Society, is a 5K walk for dogs and their owners. The walk starts at Shakerag Knoll, by the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m. There is no cost to walk in the Doggie Dash but entrants that raise $35 or more will receive an I saved a life t-shirt. Entrants who choose to walk with their dogs must bring proof of rabies vaccination (tag or certificate) and dogs must be leashed at all times. Organizers also ask that no aggressive dogs or dogs in season are brought to the walk. Registration forms are available at the Coweta Animal Hospital, Dogwood Animal Hospital, Crossroads Animal Hospital or Beard in Company in Peachtree City. Forms are also available a www.gaheartland.com. Money raised will help provide food, shelter and medical care for homeless or abused animals. The Fayette Humane Society will offer pet portraits from 10 a.m.-6p.m. at the Braelinn Village Animal Hospital. There is a $10 sitting fee which will be donated to the Fayette Humane Society by the photographer. There will be many backdrops and packages to choose from and multiple pets may be in the photograph as space permits. Phone 770-487-1073 for an appointment.
