Gymnasts undefeated in early season A team of female gymnasts from the Ultimate Dream Academy in McDonough is unbeaten after its first two meets of the season. The team includes members from Fayette County. First up was the Beach Party Meet in Hilton Head, S.C. Brittany Elliot took first place on the balance beam with a 9.15. Katie Hagerman took first place on the floor with a 9.25 and first place in all-around with an overall score of 35.325. Kara Scott took first place on the bars with a 9.0 and won first place overall in her age group. Jamie Roth took second in all-around with a 35.25. Chelsea Scott had a 33.55, Morgan Akins had a 32.45 and Marina Lopes had a 33.35, all of which contributed to the overall team score of 107.2 and helped win the overall team championship. Next, the Level 5 team went to north Atlanta for the Big Top Invitational meet and won another overall team title. Morgan Akins took first place (9.250) on the balance beam and Jamie Roth scored 9.250 on bars. Chelsea Scott scored 9.350 on bars and Marina Lopes tallied 9.200 on the balance beam. Katie Hagerman pulled out a strong 9.425 on bars and Brittany Elliot hit a strong 9.350 on balance beam. The team score was 107.925. The Ultimate Dream Academy Level 6 also had two members compete. Shannon Escarra had a 9.25 on the vault that helped her claim third place overall, and Zara Schmitt had a 8.925 on the vault which helped give her first place in the overall championship.
