Campbellton UMC to host "Gospel on the Grass" Nov. 1

Members of Campbellton United Methodist church, a 170-plus-year-old congregation in South Fulton County, will present “Gospel on the Grass,” a concert featuring a different gospel singing group each hour on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

“It will be an atmosphere reminiscent of an old-fashioned country fair or yard party,” a church spokesperson said. “The event will be held on the front lawn of the church and there will be rides and activities for children, as well as cotton candy and other goodies for ‘kids’ of all ages. The music is free. The lunch is free and the activities are free. Leave your money at home because this special event is a gift to the community from Campbellton United Methodist Church.”

The church has been a part of the South Fulton community for more than 170 years and is near the Douglas County line on Ga. Hwy. 92 at its intersection with Cascade-Palmetto Highway.

“Most folks recognize it as ‘the little white church with the red doors next to Charlie’s,” the spokesperson added.
