The McIntosh girls and Starrs
Mill boys were the big winners at last weeks county cross-country
championships, winning by wide margins in their respective divisions.
Starrs Mill came nearly as close to a perfect score as a team can
get, taking the top three individual spots and five of the top seven for
a team score of 19. McIntosh was second with 61, followed by Our Lady
of Mercy (86), Fayette County (97) and Sandy Creek (108).
On the girls side, the Lady Chiefs recorded four of the top seven individual
finishers for 29 points, followed by Starrs Mill (73), Sandy Creek
(74), Fayette County (82) and Our Lady of Mercy (116).

In other cross-country action last week, Landmarks girls took first
place at the Carrollton Invitational Saturday on the new state meet course.
Caroline Jones of Fayetteville was Landmarks top individual finisher,
in eighth place overall with at time of 20:59. Hope Hurst was 11th (21.30),
Kristina Eden 13th (21.36), Emily Wood 23rd (22.21) and Mary Michael Joiner
38th (23.23). Not scoring were Cristina
Vera at 48th (23.57), Jessie Thames at 53rd 24.17 and Sarah King at 67th
(24.56).
The second-place girls team was Walker, followed by Holy Innocents, both
AA schools.
The Landmark boys took third place behind Grady and Greater Atlanta Christian,
both AA schools.
With Will Bonn out injured, Robert Jones led the team, taking third place
with a time of 17.21. Other runners were Bobby Weaver at 13th (18.17),
Brett Lewis at 26th (18.51), Michael Fritz at 37th (19.31), Jacob Parker
at 47th (19.51), and Bradley Eisenburg at 61st (20.06).
