Would you really want to live here if ...

Dr. Knox Herndon
Pastor

Get ready for what is coming from the “politically correct crowd.” Have you ever thought of what America would be like if these folks got into our government as the major political party? Have you ever imagined that “In God We Trust” and “One Nation Under God” would be under fire? In your wildest dreams did you ever think that taking out “One Nation under God” in our sacred pledge of allegiance would ever be questioned by our highest court in the land? Where are we anyway, Soviet Russia, 1960?
The old days are gone. No longer can a serious principled individual vote the party of their youth and automatically expect the party to do right. It appears the “politically correct crowd” wants to turn America into some godless, meaningless, neutered, ineffective, weak, America with no values and character except personal desires, as long as those desires have no religious roots.
This is not what our forefathers had in mind. By the way it clearly states as our First Amendment “freedom of religion.” That means our need and desire to express our religion. It further states in The Constitution, that “Congress shall not ESTABLISH nor PROHIBIT religion. The term “separation of church and state” is a currently used “media term” that was taken from a personal letter written by Thomas Jefferson. Those five words are NOT in the Constitution anywhere, yet there is an aggressive movement by the ACLU and other atheists to eradicate every form of religion from American life.
This political correctness further flies into the face of all the men and women who gave their lives for this country. Did you know that 94 percent of all the quotes our Founding Fathers used were from the Bible? If the ACLU is reading this article, chew on that for a while.
I don’t know about you but it really irks me to see a certain party beginning to go around our sacred constitution and using judges to get their agendas crammed down our throats. This needs to be exposed and resisted at all levels. This is not about partisan politics but about conserving our religious heritage.
Do you really want to live here if you can’t do the following?
• Pray in school!
• Wear a cross in public!
• Read scripture in public!
• No prayers at sports events!
• Remove “In God We Trust” on all our money!
• Remove “In God We Trust” which is engraved on our public buildings in concrete!
• Remove “One Nation Under God” in our pledge of allegiance!
• Remove all religious books from our libraries!
• Remove Chaplains from our Military Services!
• No prayers at our military academies!
• No religious public speakers!
• No invocations or benedictions in our graduation ceremonies in our schools, both civilian and military!
The list will be longer and longer and longer.
I don’t know about you but if this happens I will not want to live here. This will not be the America that I and my family served two generations in the military to defend and preserve.
Martin Luther King was in jail in Birmingham and one of his friends asked him “Martin, what are you doing in jail?” Martin replied, “Why aren’t you in jail?”
At what point do we continue to watch as these anti-American and anti-God groups chip away at our religious liberties all under the guise of not wanting to “offend anyone.” Well I am very offended. These are serious issues and I hope you are willing to do something about it. A day will come when we will have to make up our minds to either “roll over and play dead” or “stand up and be counted” even if it means civil disobedience.
The Christian martyrs and those who have fought for our religious freedom and who have gone on before us deserve nothing less. Long live American religious freedom!
