Applications now available for The McElroy Mile Race applications are now available for The McElroy Mile, the Clayton State Track Clubs inaugural event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, at 9 a.m. in conjunction with Clayton States annual Homecoming celebration. The one-mile road race is named for Dr. Elliott McElroy, the Universitys vice president emeritus of Academic Affairs, who has been running at Clayton State almost since the University opened in 1969. The race will take place entirely on the Clayton State campus. Entry fees received by Oct. 20 are $9, which includes a homecoming T-shirt; or $5 without a T-shirt. After Oct. 20, entry fees are $12 with a T-shirt and $6 without a T-shirt. Applications are available on the Clayton State campus in the Athletics & Fitness Center, the Office of University Relations, the Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education, and the Student Center. They are also available via e-mail from johnshiffert@mail.clayton.edu and mikemead@mail.clayton.edu. Awards will be given for male and female overall winners, top 10 finishers, and special awards will be given for youngest and oldest finishers. Race event features include ample parking and admission to the Clayton State Alumni Association Pancake Breakfast (in the Downs Center) after the race.
