Three county teams win opening playoff games By MONROE
ROARK Softball teams in Region 4-AAAAA are going at it this week at McCurry Park in Fayetteville, and the regions four slots in the state sectionals in Valdosta should be decided by tonight. All four of the top seeds won in Mondays first round. Starrs Mill, still atop the states AAAAA rankings, won 7-0 over Riverdale and was scheduled to face McIntosh Tuesday night, after this paper went to press. McIntosh defeated Newnan Monday. Fayette County, ranked fifth in the state this week, needed only five innings to take care of Lovejoy 10-0. The Lady Tigers second round opponent Tuesday was East Coweta, who defeated Mundys Mill. The winners of the Starrs Mill-McIntosh and Fayette County-East Coweta games automatically qualify for the state sectionals, along with the two winners of losers bracket games scheduled for tonight. The region tournament wraps up tomorrow night with the finals at 7 p.m.
