Why not more logical
cut from Hwy. 74?
When the Lake Kedron area was
developed there were ordinances set in place to protect those who invested
in very expensive homes in one of the highest property tax areas in Peachtree
City but it now appears that these plans and restrictions are changing.
The proposed extension to Regents Park into the Kedron Village shopping
center will increase the traffic on Georgian Park to unacceptable levels.
Georgian Park was not designed to be a freeway but a two-lane road with
a median which now exists. There are no passing lanes or any way around
traffic on this road.
If, in the unfortunate event an emergency vehicle was summoned, there
would be no ingress for said vehicle which may result in the loss of life.
Additionally, I would assume these roads were not structurally designed
to accommodate heavy traffic flows or 18-wheelers delivering their load
at all times of the day and night.
There are numerous safety concerns for our children and the many citizens
driving golf carts who frequently cross Georgian Park on the cart path
to access the shopping village. The hill approaching Regents Park
from Ga. Highway 74 appears to be a blind spot. Ive noticed numerous
times, as I turn on to Regents Park, that cars unexpectedly appear
on the hill and sometimes at high speeds. I can only imagine the increased
danger with out-of-town drivers not familiar with Peachtree City accessing
this road.
The most logical alternative would be an entrance only cut
into the store from Hwy. 74, a major highway. There is already an entrance
at Peachtree Parkway which was designed for village expansion albeit in
need of widening. It is quite obvious with the present facilities that
a box this large was not envisioned for the Kedron Village
shopping center.
I, along with several thousand voters, request that the viable alternative
be incorporated into the project and that the present architectural design
be disapproved.
