Bird walk scheduled for Saturday morning Join Fayette County bird walkers on a fun and informative Bird Walk hosted by Southern Conservation Trust this Saturday from 8-10 a.m. David Cree, a Fayette County Master Gardener and experienced bird enthusiast, will lead the guided walk along the creek in the Flat Creek Nature Area, adjacent to the amphitheater on McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City. Mid-October is the best time to spy tropical songbirds migrating through our area on their way south. Walkers may spot warblers and many colorful birds. This is a great way to enjoy the glorious fall weather and learn about nature. SCT invites participants to bring binoculars and meet at the Flat Creek Nature Center on McIntosh Trail Saturday at 8 a.m. Southern Conservation Trust is a Peachtree City-based nonprofit that owns and manages over 600 acres of environmentally sensitive land in Fayette County. SCT hosts environmental programs and partners with community groups to enhance its nature preserves with trails, overlooks and re-introduction of native species. As a regional land trust SCT works with willing landowners to develop options for protecting scenic open space in Fayette County and may also provide tax advantages for the landowner.
