They won't have their own school or auditorium until next year, but the students at Whitewater High School will present their first play in the school's history this week. The comedic murder mystery "The Butler Did It," will be performed at Sams Auditorium, Thursday-Saturday, at 7 p.m.

The plot is standard for murder mysteries. Seven murder mystery authors are invited by Miss Maple to spend a weekend at Ravenswood Manor, solve a mystery and win an award. The authors do not come as themselves but rather as their alter egos/characters from their books. A murder occurs and there are plot twists a plenty as everyone, including the audience, tries to figure out whodunit.

"The Butler Did It" is directed by Angie Olivera, who has an extensive theater background. She has been involved with theater since the age of four and has done summer stock, extra work in movies and attended Valdosta State University on scholarship. She was the dram instructor at Fayette Middle School for three years before jumping at the chance to be first drama teacher at Whitewater High School. She feels very fortunate to have inherited a talented first class.

"It felt kind of strange at first that the entire cast and crew consisted of all freshmen," said Olivera. "But I have been amazed at their abilities and talent, as well as the turnout. They are all real hard workers and good kids."

After "The Butler Did It," the next show that olivera and company are planning is the spring musical, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

Tickets for "The Butler Did It" are $6 for adults and students and $3 for children 10 and under. Tickets are available at the door but reservations can be made by e-mailng Olivera.angie@fcboe.org.
