McDonough Road Baptist Church plans Oct. revival The often-pondered questions "Why am I on this earth? What is my purpose?" will be explored during the "Purpose Driven Life Revival" Sunday through Wednesday, Oct. 19-22, at McDonough Road Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Beginning Sunday morning, the revival climaxes the church's "40 Days of Purpose" spiritual growth campaign that began Sept. 1. Church members have been reading the devotional best seller The Purpose Driven Life together, memorizing scripture, participating in Bible studies and hearing sermons centered around each week's purpose. "God created us for a reason," explained pastor David L. Chancey. "God planned us for His pleasure, and the Bible calls that worship. God formed us for family, and we refer to that as fellowship. God expects us to grow up spiritually, and we call that discipleship. God shaped us for service, and we each have a ministry. And God made us for mission, and we call that evangelism. We have learned that life is not about 'me,' but all about God." The revival will build on these themes, said Chancey. Services will be held at regular times on Sunday, 10:55 a.m. and 6 p.m., and will begin at 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. "High Attendance Day in Bible Study" will kick off the morning. A breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., and Bible study begins at 9:45 a.m. A special emphasis will be held each evening. Sunday night features a men's cake bake competition, Monday night is Sunday School night and the senior adult choir performs, Tuesday night is "each one bring one" night, and Wednesday night is family night. The children's choirs will sing Wednesday night. A revival choir also will bring special music each service. Dinner is available each night at 6 p.m. by reservation and is being catered by the Fayetteville Dwarf House Chick-fil-A. Child care will be provided for each service. The church is at 352 McDonough Road, just beyond the soccer fields. |
