Flash runners run well at Founders Day A number of athletes from the Peachtree City Flash cross-country team competed in the Tyrone Founders Day races Sept. 20. Twenty-one Flash runners were in the 5k and another 10 ran the one-mile event. Team members placed in nearly every youth category, led by 12-year-old Mary Frances Roberts, who was the overall female winner in the 5K with a time of 21:08. Other finishers of note in the 5K include Whitney Huguelet at 21:47 (third overall female, first in 11-14 age group), April Esposito at 22:29 (second place 11-14 female), Justin Jarrell at 23:33 (first place 11-14 male), Diane Wilfong at 23:35, Haley Smith at 24:41 (first place under-10 female), Nathan Jeffery at 26:58, Jonathan Jeffery at 28:23 (first place under-10 male), Kelsey Pratt at 29:00, Mackenzie Nail at 29:12 (second place under-10 female), Allison Wilson at 29:13, Wesley Smith at 29:18, Ryan Cazuko at 30:39, Chelsey Bowman at 31:22, Elizabeth Jeffery at 31:22, Catie Culpepper at 32:51, Ross Salinsky at 33:48, and Katie Jeffery at 33:53. Flash assistant coach Hether Bowman (30:46) recorded a first-place age group finish. In the one-mile race, top spots went to Ian Roberts (second overall at 7:10), Sean McGowan (third at 7:40), Tim Waters (fourth at 7:59), Myles McGowan (fifth at 8:15), and Elizabeth Cuneo (seventh at 8:32). Also in the running were Lauren Blankenbecker (9:02), Casey Ingram (9:09), Holly Gibbs (10:38), Parker Nail (10:59) and Jared Inya-Agha (13:09). Flash athletes will host the first official cross country race of the season this Saturday at Drake Field in Peachtree City. Several teams will be competing, including Northside Red Runners, Walton Track Club, Running Stars and the Gazelles Track Club. The races will begin at 9 a.m. The course is very spectator friendly and the public is welcome.
