St. Andrew's gets go-ahead for new construction, renovation plans The Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta recently approved planned renovations and new building construction for St. Andrew's in-the-Pines Episcopal Church on Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City. "The needs of the church and its many activities and the growth of church stewardship programs and our community outreach ministries necessitates our new building program," said the Rev. Daniel Brigham, pastor of St. Andrew's. "We simply have outgrown our facility." In 1976, when St. Andrew's was first designated a mission, 28 people began meeting at the Peachtree City Elementary School. The land where the present sanctuary stands was purchased, ground was broken for the present parish hall in 1980, and the present sanctuary was built in 1994. The Garden of Remembrance for interment of ashes was built in 2001. St. Andrew's now serves over 380 families from Fayette County and surrounding areas. Brigham has guided the church through rapid growth and expansion since 1983. Father Frank Larisey became associate pastor in 2000. St. Andrew's maintains many stewardship and community outreach programs, including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, youth ministries, preschool and kindergarten, Episcopal Women, The Order of the Daughters of the King, Habitat for Humanity, Operation Christmas Child, the Thanksgiving food basket project, Emmaus House support, Fayette Samaritans, Support Our Soldiers, clothing for school children, and Women's Success Network. Church activities include Sunday worship programs, adult and children's choirs, Wednesday potluck dinners, Oktoberfest, annual art action fund raiser, healing services, blessing of the animals in October, youth ski trip, Lenten, Easter and Christmas services, Southland Nursing Home devotions, and other special services.
