Local teams hold fast in poll

The latest state coaches’ rankings for volleyball have Landmark Christian in the third spot, behind Westminster and Marist, with McIntosh at No. 6 and Starr’s Mill at No. 14.

McIntosh: The Lady Chiefs rode a four-match winning streak going into last night’s scheduled home matches against Newnan and Riverdale.

On their home court last Tuesday, McIntosh defeated Starr’s Mill in three straight games and followed that up by winning three of four over East Coweta. A trip last Thursday to Chattahoochee High in north Fulton resulted in two more wins, over Chattahoochee and Harrison, each in two straight games.

Starr’s Mill: After last week’s loss to McIntosh, the Lady Panthers bounced back and won three straight over Lovejoy. It was their last match before yesterday’s scheduled meeting with Fayette County.

Sandy Creek: With two wins last week against Whitewater (25 - 4, 25 - 11, 25 - 15) and Pebblebrook (25 - 11, 25 - 14, 25 - 14), the Lady Patriots were 18-7 overall and 4-0 in area play going into this week’s matches against Douglas County and Woodward.
