Big turnout for Sandy Creek Classic

Hundreds of high school runners from around the state competed Saturday in the Sandy Creek Fall Classic. Here are some of the results (complete information available at www.gatfxc.com).

Boys Championship 5K: Starr's Mill was the winner with 37 points, far ahead of second-place Lovett (79). Next in line were the teams from Pope (80), Centennial (109), McIntosh (140), Fayette County (178) and Sandy Creek (201). Individually, Austin Enriquez of Starr's Mill was the top local finisher, coming in fourth at 17:12.

Boys Varsity 5K: South Cobb was the top team with 79 points, followed by Decatur (98), Starr's Mill (135), and Landmark (135). McIntosh finished 13th (292), Fayette County was 17th (432), and Sandy Creek was 19th (474). Robert Jones of Landmark placed 8th at 18:08, the best finish for a local runner.
