Stage basics class for adults scheduled for fall

This fall, the Peachtree City Recreation Department is offering "Stage Basics," designed for adults and teens 16 and older.Taught by Offshoot Productions artistic director Susan M. Steadman, Ph.D., the provides a relaxed, "safe" environment in which to explore acting and experience the excitement of stage work.

The class, which meets Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m., runs from Oct. 1-22 (Session I) and Oct. 29 to Nov. 19 (Session II).Using both scripts and improvisation, the instructor will introduce participants to techniques which promote relaxation and concentration, character development, voice and movement for the stage, and relating to scene partners.

Participants may take one or both sessions.The registration fee is $45 per session. Other acting classes offered by the Peachtree City Recreation Department include "Getting into the Act" for children ages 6 to 8 on Tuesdays at 3:10 p.m., and for children aged 7 to 11 on Tuesdays at 4:15 p.m. (Oct. 7-28); "Creating a Play: A Class for Homeschoolers," for youngsters aged 9 to 14 on Thursdays at 11 a.m. (Oct. 2-Nov. 6); and "Scenes for Teens" for adolescents aged 12 to 18 on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. (Oct. 9-Nov. 13).
