Christ the King to celebrate 7th anniversary September 14

Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church will celebrate its seventh anniversary Sunday, Sept. 14, with the Most Rev. John W. Holloway, Bishop of the Diocese of Georgia, as its guest speaker.

During the 10 a.m. service, Holloway will install Edwina Bond of Tyrone as a Commissioned Minister in Congregational Care. Bond will be only the third such commissioned minister in the Diocese of Georgia.

The church began in 1996 with 19 members meeting in a home in Sharpsburg. To accommodate its quickly growing congregation, the church moved to the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, where worship services were held for six years.

In November, 2002, the church moved to its new sanctuary on 12 acres of land in Coweta County. It has grown to more than 200 members and has started a mission congregation, St. Matthew's in Hogansville.

Holloway will speak at both the 8 and 10 a.m. morning services and will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation at 6 p.m. in an evening service.

The church is at 4881 Ga. Hwy. 34 East, between Peachtree City and Newnan.
