Religion Briefs Community Bible study begins Sept. 5 Community Bible Study, an interdenominational study program, will resume Friday, Sept. 5 and will continue through April 2004. Classes will meet on Fridays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, 592 Bernhard Rd., south of Fayetteville. This year's study will be on the book of Luke. Grief recovery group begins at Outreach Outreach International Center will offer a community-wide Grief Recovery Group beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. The group will continue to meet the second Tuesday of each month at the facilities of Outreach International Center (OIC), 1091 South Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville. Dr. John H. Hatcher, OIC Pastor, will facilitate the group. Participants will be asked to share their grief experience only so far as they are comfortable to do so. Christ the King to offer Bible study Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg will offer a four-month Bible study course on the New Testament books of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus beginning Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. There is no charge for the course which will be taught in the parish house of the church's property on Ga. Hwy. 34, just west of Peachtree City. The study will take a chapter by chapter approach with ample time for questions and discussion. The instructors will be Father David Epps of Sharpsburg, rector of Christ the King, and Father Paul Massey of Peachtree City, a priest at Christ the King. Cancer support group open to the community Fayetteville First United Methodist Church offers a Cancer Support Group on the third Thursday of the month (September through May) at 6:30 p.m. in the Bride's Room. The purpose of the group is to offer encouragement and support to both long-term cancer survivors as well as those recently diagnosed. Guest speakers share information on various topics such as nutrition, treatment options, and tips on finding the right doctor. Each year group members sponsor a team in the Relay for Life, a walk-a-thon fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The group is open to the community. Body of Christ schedules men's conference The Body of Christ International, U.S.A. invites all men to the "Mighty Men of Valor Conference" scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 4, at 9 a.m. The speakers will be Pastor Randy Morrison of Speak the Word Church International in Golden Valley, Minn., and Pastor Michael Moore of Faith Chapel Christian Center in Birmingham, Ala. S.A.G.E. Junaluska trip is next month The S.A.G.E. (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) ministry at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church is planning a fall getaway to the mountains of western North Carolina Oct. 10 and 11. The group will travel to Lake Junaluska for an overnight stay. The cost is $114 per person and includes transportation, one night's stay at the Lake Junaluska Hotel (sharing a double room), three buffet meals at the hotel and an evening concert by the Lake Junaluska Singers. Eating Disorders group meets Wednesdays Eating Disorders Anonymous, a faith-based 12-step program for people with eating disorders, meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Room 302 at the Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Robinson Road Campus, 225 Robinson Road. EDA is a fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so that in sharing their common problems, they may help others to recover from their eating disorders. Each meeting consists of a devotional or Bible study followed by a period of discussion and sharing. The group is open to high-school-age students and adults. Parent's Day Out program has openings The Parent's Day Out program at North Fayette United Methodist Church has openings available in all classes. Cliftondale UMC plans enrichment class A new life enrichment class is forming at Cliftondale United Methodist Church and will begin Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. The textbook is "Eight Life-Enriching Practices of United Methodists," by Dr. Henry Knight. Fairburn UMC plans revival Sept. 9-11 The Rev. Al Turner will be the guest minister at Fairburn United Methodist's fall revival scheduled for Tuesday through Friday, Sept. 9-11 at 7 p.m. Tuesday night's service has been designated Youth Emphasis Night and youth in the area are invited to the Youth House for pizza at 6 p.m., prior to the service. Seniors invited to join 'McFolks' at MRBC Senior adults in the community are invited to be a part of the 'McFolks' group at McDonough Road Baptist Church.
