BOE's bad bus decision compounded by delay

I attended the recent school board meeting and it was obvious to me that, considering the number of concerned citizens in attendance, a bad decision had been made regarding the bus route changes.

Everyone can understand budget cuts and cost-saving measures in difficult economic times, but those decisions should never involve the safety of our children.

The school board had announced that it wants to form a "task force" to study the problem, but we need immediate action before some child is hurt or worse.

I proposed that the school board restore the elementary school routes as a compromise solution. However, they made no decisions at the meeting.

I urge all interested and concerned citizens to continue to express their opinions and ideas to the school board by continuing to call them, by applying to speak on this issue in their future meeting agendas and by attending those future meetings, and by using any other communications medium.

Don't let them off the hook on this one; a task force is just a delaying tactic in my opinion.
