Matthew Winn joins Braelinn Baptist as executive pastor

Braelinn Baptist Church's senior pastor Keith Moore announced recently that Matthew Winn has been called to serve Braelinn as executive pastor. Winn's previous position was as the southeast region leader for PricewaterhouseCoopers' small business consulting practice headquartered in Atlanta. Winn and his family will move to the area from their North Georgia farm in Calhoun.

"I've known for some time now that God has clearly called me to utilize the experience of an accelerated business career to lead the strategic, administrative and financial endeavors of a church," Winn says. "But my real passion is reaching people with the life-changing message of faith in Christ. I believe we have to engage our culture to fulfill this mandate, and I'm very excited to have found my place of service at Braelinn a church willing to accept that challenge."

In previous positions as vice-president of operations for The Dixie Group, Inc. and chief financial officer for Vinings Industries, Inc., Winn led more than 150 employees, managed 13 facilities, completed over $50 million of financing and directed the construction of a 600,000 sq. ft. facility.

He currently is completing both a master of business administration degree in church administration and a master of arts in Biblical and theological studies. "I believe this combination of specialized church administration training coupled with a solid theological foundation will become the standard for executive pastors and administrative ministers in the future," Winn says.

Winn has served as a deacon, capital campaign committee member, finance committee member, small group leader for both adults and children, director of outreach and as founder of the EntryPoint Outreach Ministry.

Winn met his wife, Karen, through a semiprofessional Christian jazz band, Jubilation Brass, while an undergraduate at Howard Payne University in Texas. They will celebrate 15 years of marriage this month. Their son, Christopher, is nine years old.

Winn says he believes he brings to his new position at Braelinn "a passion for ministry and practical experience applying faith in a professional setting as well as a high degree of organization, determination, creativity and professional presence developed through [his] previous roles."

"I believe God has and will continue to use Braelinn to advance the kingdom in ways we can't even imagine and I am thrilled to take up my place of service here," he says.
