Making 7-year-olds
walk in dark not bright idea
I am appalled at the new policy of the school board as it concerns picking up children from the Sandown Creek subdivision in Peachtree City. Last year, and in previous years, children were always picked up on the street that they lived. This year, it is my understanding that they must walk to McIntosh Trail, and wait across the street for the school bus to pick them up. This is dangerous and lacks any sensible thought-process in making this decision. McIntosh Trail is a connecting road between Robinson Road and Ga. Highway 74, and traffic moves fast. After daylights saving time ends, it is dark at that time of the morning. Yet, you want my 7-year-old child to not only wait on the curb of this busy street, but actually walk across it to wait for the bus? That is insane. Please do not wait until a child is hit and possibly killed before you change this idiotic bus policy back to where students can catch their bus in the neighborhood. Mike LaTella Peachtree City, Ga.
