Lightning still accepting players

Lightning Soccer Club is still accepting registrations for its Academy Program's fall season. The program, for ages 8-11, is geared toward developing basic skills and a love for soccer.

Professional coaches give the players quality instruction during the two practices per week and at the games each Saturday. Practices are organized and intensive skill development is mixed with fun games. Travel and expense are kept to a minimum with all games in the Atlanta area.

The Lightning Academy program, in its fourth year, was used as the model for the Georgia Youth Soccer Association three years ago. Now, nearly all of the other youth soccer organizations in Georgia have adopted the program for developing young players.

Lightning Soccer Club has produced many college, professional, and national team players including Clint Mathis of the U.S. national team; Ricardo Clark, a number-two draft pick in 2003 by the MLS' New York Metrostars; and Marshall Leonard of the New England Revolution.
