Scott visits Israel
Congressman David Scott, who is also co-chairman of the Democratic Study Group on National Security, is one of several members of Congress who recently visited Israel and met with both Israeli and Palestinian leaders to discuss the peace process in the Middle East. "This is a very delicate, fragile, volatile and complicated situation that is vital to our national security interests in the United States as well as in the Middle East," said Congressman Scott. "With suicide bombings almost a daily occurrence, the security of the people of Israel and the dismantling of terrorist organizations are extremely urgent. All of us must continue to work hard and stay on the 'roadmap' to peace and pray earnestly to God for a lasting peace to come to Israel soon." During the trip, Congressman Scott also met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas in Gaza, Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Silvan Shalom, and Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz. In addition, Congressman Scott visited the Golan Heights, the controversial security fence, the West Bank, Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee, and the border outpost shared by Syria, Jordan and Lebanon as well as various military bases.
