Obituaries

Betty Adams


Betty Lou Adams, 77, Newnan, died Aug. 5, 2003. She was born March 20, 1926.
She was retired as an office clerk and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newnan.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Buddy Waldron and the Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include William and Bernice Ketcherside, Robert and Imogene Ketcherside, Kenneth Moore, Jeannine and Buddy Waldron, Linda Harris, Emilie and Dennis Reed, and Mike Rabaduex.
McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Martin Martin


Martin Lee Martin, 79, College Park, died Aug. 6, 2003. He was born Sept. 7, 1923 in Haralson County, Ga.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Brian Bridges officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Newnan.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Martin, College Park; a son, Michael and Bobbie Martin, Barnesville; daughters Kathy Martin Lee, Newnan, and Diane and Ben Hays, Gay, Ga.; brothers, Buck Martin, and Seaford Martin, both of Hiram; sisters, Flora Wright, Riverdale, and Catherine Reynolds, Hiram; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

Orelia Thomas


Orelia B. Thomas, 67, Union City, died Aug. 7, 2003. She was born Nov. 12, 1931 in Coweta County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dean Thomas.
Services were at the Parrott Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Terry McDaniel officiating. Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Park, Fairburn.
Survivors include sons the Rev. Phil and Lynn Thomas, Morganton, Ga., Kenny and Elaine Thomas, Groveland, Fla., and Keith and Kim Thomas, Newnan; a daughter, Cheryl and Joe Creamer, Senoia; mother, Frances Brown, Union City; brothers, David and Mildred Brown, and Ralph and Sheri Brown, all of Union City; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge.

William Liles


William Clinton Liles, 69, Newnan, died Aug. 11, 2003. He was born Nov. 14, 1933 in Oglethorpe, Ga., son of the late Tom and Lucille Lemaster Liles. He had served as a Sergeant 1st Class in the United States Marine, serving 8 years.
He was a motorcycle mechanic.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Allan Mathura officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.
Survivors include sons, Billy T. Liles, Morgantown, N. C., and Brian Liles, Griffin, Ga.; daughters, Anita Kirby and Nikki Liles, both of Newnan; and five grandchildren, Stephanie Liles, Annmarie Liles, Calvin Kirby, Catie Kirby, and Clinton Liles.
McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Raymond Gordon


Raymond Edgar Gordon, 85, Newnan, died Aug. 11, 2003. He was born Sept. 2, 1917 in Carroll County, Ga. He had served in the United States Army in World War II, and was retired from South Wire as a carpenter.
Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel.
Survivors include a son, Robert R. Gordon, Lafayette, Ga.; daughters, Deborah Gordon McDavid, Newnan, Susan Gordon Young, Metairie, La., and Patricia Gordon Chance, Carrollton, Ga.; a brother, Preston Gordon, Arnco, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
