Can't get there from here

Bridge construction to close roads

Rogers Bridge Company has advised the DOT that they are ready to begin replacement of the two bridges at the intersection of Happy Valley Circle and Jim Starr Road, about 6 miles north of Newnan. This work will require that both roads be completely closed to traffic at this location for approximately one year. Brimer Road will be the suggested detour route.

This project consists of replacing two structurally deficient bridges with reinforced concrete bridges. The bridge on Happy Valley Road is over Brown's Creek and includes 0.216 miles of approach work. The bridge on Jim Starr Road is over Cedar Creek and includes 0.156 mile of approach work. The Happy Valley Road bridge replacement cost is $562,377 and the cost of the Jim Starr Road bridge replacement is $604,277.

Utility work is already underway in this area, and the road closure will be put into place Aug. 21. The estimated date for completion of this project is Sept. 30, 2004.

Local residents are encouraged to plan their route before traveling in this area and allow extra time for their trip.
