Where's that traffic light that's needed at Hood Ave./Hwy. 85?

It is my understanding that several years ago a signal light was approved for the Hood Avenue-Ga. Highway 85 intersection by the state of Georgia. The light is needed to allow those traveling east on Hood Avenue to get onto Hwy. 85 safely.

Most of that traffic during the school year is either teachers, parents of students or the students themselves, but a lot of these drivers choose to cut through the gas station that sits on the west side of Hwy. 85 between Hood and Ga. Highway 92, so they can get onto 85 with the safety that the signal light offers at 92.

I once spoke with Councilman Hovey-King who lives just down Hood Avenue about the signal light placement and was told that it would cost money in its placement and the city was "looking into it."

No light yet but the intersection is even more dangerous today with the added traffic that the city has gained over these years.

The new transportation plan is a laugh. The answer to the problem according to the "plan" is to buy property between Hood Avenue and 92 (eminent domain on someone's home?), build a connector road between the two roads which would cause traffic to have to make left-hand turns just ahead of two busy intersections.

Is a signal light that darned expensive? Gee! Maybe we can add another unsafe intersection to our Fayetteville travels.
