County historian to speak to Christian Women's ClubThe Jonesboro/Fayetteville Christian Women's Club invites all ladies to its next monthly meeting Thursday, Aug. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Links Golf Club. Reservations must be made by Monday Aug. 18. The cost is $10.50 inclusive and you can call Martha at 770-969-9264 or e-mail her at CWCreservations@bellsouth.net. The club has selected Carolyn Cary, official historian for Fayette County, as its August speaker. She will relate several different festivities that have taken place in the county's 182 years. She was co-founder of the Fayette County Historical Society in 1971, and editor of the "History of Fayette County," published in 1977. Christian Women's Club is a part of an international organization with headquarters in Kansas City. It is interdenominational and has over 2,000 groups in the United States and Canada. Everyone is welcome and there are no dues.Complimentary nursery and child care is provided, but bring a sack lunch for your child. The Links Golf Club is on Hewell Road, off Ga. Highway 54 in Fayetteville. It is 4 miles east of the old Courthouse Square in Fayetteville.
