Before "Thoroughly Modern Millie" took Broadway by storm in 2002, it was an Oscar winning film in 1967 starring Julie Andrews. While two songs from the film survived, the story remains the same. Millie, a Midwestern girl, comes to New York City, determined to take it by storm and marry a rich man. Atlanta audiences will get their chance to see how Millie does in the Big Apple, as the show runs at the Fox Theatre through Aug. 10.

"Thoroughly Modern Mille" nabbed six Tony Awards in 2002, including Best Musical. It features tap dancing, jazz standards, elegant costumes of the Roaring 20s, a great sense of humor and a love story. The two songs that survived from the movie are "Thoroughly Modern Millie," and "Jimmy," which is about the man that Millie reluctantly falls in love with.

The cast includes Darcie Roberts as Millie. Roberts originated the role of Millie in the workshop stages of the show. Roberts is also one third of the country rock trio The Roberts Girls. Pamela Isaacs will perform the role of Muzzy Van Hossmere. Isaacs was on the HBO series "Oz" in the recurring role of Mary Glynn and was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress for her role in "The Life."

Hollis Reznik, whose experience includes performing the role of Fantine in two National tours of "Les Miserables" as well as countless productions in Chicago, plays the role of Mrs. Meers, while Matt Cavanaugh, who played Bud in the Broadway production of "Urban Cowboy" will play Jimmy.

Performances of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" will be at 8 p.m. through Saturday with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and an evening performance on Sunday at 7 p.m. Ticket prices range from $20-$50 and are available at any Ticketmaster outlet or by calling 404-817-8700.
